Letter #53
For my personal studies, I have been reading through the Book of Mormon and highlighting all the tender mercies of the Lord that I see and right now I am in 3 Nephi when the ressurected Christ visits the people in the America's. In chapter 13, He is giving His Sermon on the Mount discourse to these people, similar to his Sermon that He gave in Matthew 5-7. The verses that stood out to me were verses 31 through 33, where Christ says: "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." The Lord is asking for all of our effort in doing His work and He promises that our needs will be met.
