Letter #4

Man, another week has already flown by, I feel like I just got done writing my last email!

I don't really have too many stories from this week, Tuesday through Wednesday nothing really exciting happened. We spent a lot of time walking and knocking doors without much success, most people won't even answer the door, much less show interest in learning more about the gospel. We did get to meet with a lot of the members though, they are super cool and are excited to have us over! We take the time to get to k on each other, share a quick message, and then sometimes they even have referrals for us, or people they know who might be interested in the church.

On Thursday we had our first District Council Meeting where we got to meet the rest of our district and talk about our missionary efforts in our areas. The only problem though is that it's a Spanish district. My companion and I are the only English speaking missionaries, I mean the other missionaries speak English too, they just got called to a Spanish mission and so they did a lot of the meeting in Spanish. It was kinda boring because me and my companion sat there for a lot of the time just listening to them.

We also got to do some service on Thurday too! There was a lady who had some gravel dumped in her yard and she asked for help smoothing it out. We actually didn't do very much, a guy with a backhoe showed up and pushed most the the pile out, and then Elder Shipley and I went back over it to smooth it over. But it was great to do some more physical activity and help another person out.

Friday was a super amazing day. We had a lesson with a lady named Sue, only the 2nd lesson to work out with a nonmember so far, and we taught her about the Plan of Salvation. It went awesome, Sue was very accepting and we all felt the Spirit super strongly. Sue has had some challenging times in her life and a lot of the stuff we taught her helped her answer some of the questions and feelings that she had. We also got talking about baptism and when I asked if she would be willing to get baptized, she accepted! That was one of the craziest and most spiritual moments that I've been a part of! We set her up for the 15th of October and we are planning to meet with her a lot over the next few weeks to help her get ready. It has been kind of a struggle to get people to meet with us these past couple weeks so this lesson was truly a miracle.

Saturday we got to meet a nonmember named Amanda, she and her husband are members of the Grace Christian church just down the road from our church, but they are super nice and respectful. They said they are always open to talking about Christ so we shared Alma 7: 11 from the Book of Mormon and had a nice little discussion about Christ's sacrifice with them.

Later in the day we were out knocking doors and we found a lady who was open to learning about the church! She said that she and her husband didn't really fit in with the religion they were in and were looking for something else. We are trying to set up an appointment with them for later so hopefully we'll be able to teach them more about the gospel!

Sunday was kinda busy, between church meetings and even more knocking doors (we are going to end up knocking all the doors in Parowan and all the surrounding towns here within a month I feel like). Our area covers 7 different wards and we got to go to 3 of them today. There are so many people and so many names to remember, it is hard trying to remember who goes to which ward and what church callings they have.

Today, Monday, we went to Walmart in Cedar City and bought our weekly groceries and then we drove up the mountain into Brian Head, which is kinda just a small vacation town. It is super cool up there, there are some great views and fancy log cabins. You could definitely tell that it's fall-time, all the trees were yellow and orange and it was all really beautiful.

Well anyways, it's been going great out here. The Lord promised that those who serve Him and have faith in His power, He will guide us and help us through our trials. Through faith in Him, we will also be able to  receive mighty miracles and work them in others lives as well! (Mosiah 8: 18, from the Book of Mormon) I have definitely felt the Lord's help and guidance as I have had faith in Him and have witnessed miracles in my life, even these past few weeks. I also love all your emails, thanks for taking the time to send them! Miss you guys!
