Letter #45

Aloha! What's up everybody! I don't know if I told yall this but my companion is from Hawaii and he says Aloha a lot! I figured it's a great way to say hello!

Well, there's a lot to tell you about from this past week so starting from the beginning we were teaching this older lady named Charlene and she accepted a date to be baptized! Unfortunately she was not able to make it to church this past Sunday so her date will need to be pushed back a little so she has more time to prepare but she is willing to work towards that goal!

We are also teaching a girl named Elizabeth. Now I can't remember if I already talked about her but she's 9 years old and her parents want her to learn about Jesus Christ and get prepared for baptism! She he has very strong ADHD so it's hard for her to learn and remember things but we found out that she loves art! We print out pictures of things that we teach about in our lessons and have her color them as we teach and so far it's been working great! Her parents are awesome too, when we first met them they said even though the want Lizzy to learn, they themselves are not very religious as all. Well after a couple lessons they went to church on a Fast Sunday and bore their testimonies in sacrament meeting! They have felt the love of Christ in their life so powerfully and its awesome to see the wonderful change that only Christ can bring into their lives!

We also been able to have a few lessons with Skyla and Braxton, both are doing well and come to church as often as they can!

We tracked into a couple less active families who have 7 turning 8 year olds and they asked us to teach their kids so they can learn about baptism as well, so between Gunnison and Ephraim I'll have helped baptize quite a few 8 year olds. Technically as missionaries our focus is convert baptisms (those who are 9 and older) but hey, making covenants with the Lord is important for any age so I guess we're being proactive?

Kent Dyreng is one of our ward mission leaders and he is one of the most missionary minded and loving person I've ever met. We went out on some visits with him the other day and found some potential people that hopefully we'll begin teaching soon!

That's only just a few of the miracles that we've seen this past week, I know the Lord is always willing, anxious even, to give more! Seek and Expect!

Also below are pictures of Elder Speed and I picking corn, carrying a 400 pound American flag in a parade (one of if not the biggest American flag ever we were told. It's bigger than it looks in the picture, we were rolling back up to put away), the Texas toothpick, and "Mormon beer" (homemade rootbeer)
